About the Job
Tehachapi Cement, LLC is seeking dedicated Laborers to perform a range of general labor tasks within the plant. Under close supervision, the Laborer will handle various manual tasks, contribute to plant maintenance, and support different departments as needed. The role requires a focus on safety and the ability to adapt to various duties, including relief work for other classifications if properly trained.

Responsibilities:
  • General Labor: Perform tasks such as plant cleaning, shoveling, wheelbarrow work, scaling, and jackhammer work.
  • Material Handling: Unload coal, bricks, and other materials requiring significant handling; load cement or other materials for shipping.
  • Site Maintenance: Pick up scrap and debris from plant grounds, dig ditches, and make excavations.
  • Concrete and Refractory Work: Mix and handle concrete and refractory materials as needed.
  • Elevated Work: Work at elevations using authorized safety equipment.
  • Kiln Maintenance: Assist with kiln relining tasks, including hauling, hoisting, or passing bricks.
  • Cleanup: Sweep floors and perform other cleanup duties to maintain a tidy work environment.
  • Departmental Support: Assist departmental control room operators and perform other assigned duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using tools and systems required for the job. Understand and apply administration and safety procedures, including equipment inspections and checklist completion.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Safety Compliance: Must consistently adhere to safety procedures and guidelines throughout the plant.
  • Flexibility: Ability to perform various tasks and adapt to different roles as needed, including relief work for other classifications.
Additional Requirements:
  • Union Membership: Candidates will be required to join the Union upon completion of a 90-day probationary period.
